TENS Machine (Pain Relief)

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machines can be useful for individuals suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in several ways:

  1. Pain Relief: TENS machines deliver small electrical impulses through the skin to the nerves, which can help in reducing pain. Many people with CFS experience muscle and joint pain, and TENS can offer a non-invasive way to manage these symptoms.
  2. Reduced Muscle Tension: The electrical stimulation can help relax muscle knots and tension. This relaxation can be particularly beneficial for CFS sufferers, who may experience muscle stiffness and discomfort.
  3. Increased Endorphin Release: TENS treatment may stimulate the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. Increased endorphin levels can improve mood and reduce perceptions of pain, which is helpful in managing CFS.
  4. Improved Sleep: By reducing pain and muscle tension, TENS therapy might contribute to better sleep quality. Adequate and restful sleep is crucial for people with CFS, as poor sleep can exacerbate fatigue and other symptoms.
  5. Enhanced Circulation: Electrical stimulation can improve blood circulation in the treated areas. Better circulation might aid in muscle recovery and reduce feelings of fatigue.
  6. Customizable Treatment: TENS units are adjustable, allowing individuals to tailor the intensity and location of the therapy according to their specific pain points and sensitivity levels.

It’s important to use TENS machines as part of a broader management plan for CFS and under the guidance of a healthcare professional, especially since CFS symptoms and severity can vary greatly between individuals. Additionally, TENS therapy should be avoided in certain conditions (like those with pacemakers or pregnant women), and care should be taken to follow the device’s instructions and recommendations.

Shakti Mats & Pillows

Shakti mats, also known as acupressure mats, may offer several benefits for individuals suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS):

Shakti Mats and Pillows for CFS
  1. Promotes Relaxation: The pressure points on the mat can help stimulate endorphin release, the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators. This can lead to increased relaxation and reduced stress, which is beneficial for CFS patients who often experience heightened stress levels.
  2. Improves Sleep Quality: Using a Shakti mat can promote relaxation which might aid in improving the quality of sleep. For CFS sufferers, better sleep can be crucial in managing fatigue and other symptoms.
  3. Stimulates Blood Circulation: The acupressure points can help stimulate blood flow. Improved circulation can aid in muscle recovery and reduce feelings of fatigue, which is a central symptom of CFS.
  4. Pain Relief: The pressure from the mat can help in alleviating muscle tension and pain. Since muscle and joint pains are common in CFS, this can provide some relief.
  5. May Boost Energy Levels: While not a cure for the fatigue associated with CFS, the relaxation and improved sleep from using a Shakti mat might contribute to a slight increase in energy levels.

It’s important to note that while Shakti mats can be a complementary tool for relaxation and symptom management, sensitivity to pain can vary among individuals with CFS, so it’s important to use the mat cautiously and adjust the duration of use based on personal comfort and tolerance.

Migraine Relief Mask

These masks are designed to help Migraine sufferers; they block out all light and some sound, and offer a cooling relief for the head. Anecdotally we’ve found that these also help those suffering from CFS/Burnout as they can help reduce stimulation and cool the head.
